facesI remember eagerly waiting for our beloved, breaths away from being 12-years-old, daughter to return from a pre-birthday trip to New York City, I found myself with plenty of things to do and not much desire to do any of them. school-testMy 12-year-old daughter took a test to advance from green belt with one stripe to green belt with two stripes in the martial art Tang Soo Do (Think Chuck Norris).  Her instructors, all Black Belts, measured her academic and physical knowledge. But more importantly, they measured her dedication to mastering the intangible aspects of being a Tang Soo Do practitioner, her heart.

As a leader there will be a time when you must test your followers. I don’t mean a weird, manipulative test of loyalty or anything like that. I mean an evaluation given by an authority (you or your Designate) to determine their level of competency in a given area.  A TEST.
